Stand behind the pallet jack when operating it as this prevents accidents from happening.

Do pallet trucks come under LOLER?

Pallet trucks and ergonomic pallet lifts don’t fall under LOLER regulations as LOLER will typically just cover equipment which would have a higher risk or consequence should the load being handled fall. Essentially, the risks associated with using pallet trucks and ergonomic pallet lifts are too low to be subject to LOLER, however, great care should still be taken by those operating them to ensure safety in warehouses and other workplace environments.

What is a pallet truck's safe maximum handling limit?

Typically, a safe maximum handling limit for an electric pallet truck stacker is around 2300kg, but this will vary across manufacturers and models. A safe maximum handling limit for manual pallet trucks is much lower, at around 700kg.

Do you need training to use a pallet truck?
