Until now 2 types of cleaning products have dominated the market; the chemical-heavy, old-fashioned harmful one and the ineffective plant-based, expensive one. Unhappy with either option Mack went away and developed a range of biotech cleaning products, and discovered that they performed better, cost less, and weren’t harmful to the people who used them.
Their mission now is to make the MACK range a part of everyone’s cleaning regime, therefore, reducing the number of harmful chemicals being released into the environment. Mack also works with some pretty impressive partners to save the ocean and reduce the amount of plastic pollution.

As well as developing a fantastic range of eco-friendly cleaning products Mack also work with Sea Shepherd whose mission is to ‘protect and conserve the world’s oceans and marine wildlife’. Sea Shepherd provides unique, at-sea resources to assist, serve and support developing coastal and island governments in the protection of their sovereign waters against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. A proportion of Mack’s profit goes directly to Sea Shepherd to support their cause.

Mack and Prevented Ocean Plastic
The Prevented Ocean Plastic programme is a global recycling initiative which helps tens of thousands of people around the world to earn their living, clean their coastlines and prevent ocean plastic. Prevented Ocean Plastic is recycled plastic collected from coastal areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution. Over 1000 tons of ocean plastic pollution monthly and growing. This plastic is collected and recycled into products like Mack’s POP spray bottle.

We’re going to talk about some of the products by MACK that we supply, so you can get a better understanding of what they are, how they work, and why they’ll benefit your business.
What is biotechnology?
Biotechnology is the use of living organisms to perform tasks or solve problems; processes involving biotech are known for being clean and sustainable. MACK’s biotech cleaning products contain fermentation extracts (plant-derived enzymes that break down proteins found in dirt), enzymes, and green surfactants which lift dirt, grease, and grime off of surfaces. The natural bacteria in the products then digest the dissolved dirt and grime which helps to keep the area clean days later and remove unpleasant odours.
Unlike chemicals, the microorganisms in these processes create reactions and produce substances without requiring full-plant production. This method is called the 'light-touch, long-term' solution to cleaning.

Bio Pods
Now, let’s look at some of MACK’s products and how they work.
There’s eleven BioPods in the MACK range, including:
- Six surface sprays
- One squeezy bottle toilet cleaner
- Four Pods (which don’t require bottles)
All of the Pods are wrapped in a PVA coating which dissolves in water, reducing plastic waste. The BioPods are a granulated form of MACK’s BioFlasks and BioFlips which are available only in a concentrated liquid format.
MACK’s BioPods are Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) free, vegan, pet-safe and don’t cause harm to oceans or aquatic life.
How do the BioPods work?
The cleaning process is initiated by a natural surfactant (surface active agent) in the BioPods (which is found in coconuts). Surfactants generate activity on the surface you're cleaning to trap dirt and remove it. MACK also uses a carbonate that reduces the hardness of water and a swelling agent that helps the cleaning process, enabling the good bacteria in the products to start the ingestion process sooner.
When the surface stains and waste materials are more complex (such as grease or pond sludge), the good bacteria in the BioPods produce enzymes to break the waste down into simple compounds that can be consumed easier.
The result of this process is the production of more bacteria, enzymes, carbon dioxide, and water (nothing harmful) which creates an instantaneous cleaning action.
In addition to cleaning, the good bacteria in MACK’s cleaning products ingest the dirty surface area, reducing the food source that bad bacteria feed on and preventing them from multiplying. This process will also prevent unpleasant odours, so your facilities smell as clean as they look.
BioFlasks and BioFlips
The MACK liquid concentrates are available in two sizes: 500ml BioFlasks and 1ltr BioFlips. The 500ml flask will produce 20 bottles worth of cleaning products once diluted whilst the 1ltr flasks will produce up to 250 bottles once diluted. The concentrates are designed to be diluted with cold water with a minimum bottle size of 500ml and max bottle size of 750ml worth of cleaning product. Both sizes of flasks have a one-way valve that will only allow the precise amount of concentrate to be dosed, preventing wastage.
There are currently five products in the 500ml range and over sixty products in the 1ltr range. This includes a concentrated grease trap treatment, treatment for septic tanks and chemical toilets as well as a graffiti remover. So, no matter what your cleaning needs are, there’s a product for you.
The BioFlasks and BioFlips are safe for you, your pets, oceans, and aquatic life.
How do the BioFlasks and BioFlips work?
The BioFlasks and Flips liquid concentrates work in a very similar way to the BioPods. Again, the initial clean is carried out by the green surfactants, but these also contain fermentation extracts. Fermentation extracts are essentially plant-derived enzymes that break down proteins found in dirt, grease, and grime, creating naturally processed solvents that act as a cleaning agents.
The good bacteria in the MACK concentrates are harvested from Canadian forests and work hand in hand with the fermentation extracts and the soft chemistry. These carefully selected chemicals will create emulsions and help mobilise dirt and waste to make it more rapidly available to enzymes and good bacteria. Most of the MACK liquid concentrate and BioPods range are pH neutral.
What are eco-friendly products?
Eco-friendly products are products that are deemed not to be harmful to the environment and are manufactured using methods that limit the number of resources used. Essentially, eco-friendly products are designed with sustainability in mind to reduce the negative impact on the planet.
