Is asbestos covered by COSHH?

COSHH does not cover asbestos. Although asbestos is a hazardous substance it is not covered by ‘The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002’. Although asbestos is a hazardous substance and comes in the form of dust, it is excluded from the COSHH regulations. Asbestos is now covered by ‘The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012’. The COSHH regulations, it state that the requirement to carry out COSHH assessments does not apply to asbestos.
