Driving in the winter can be challenging with darker days, rain, ice and snow. Check out our top 10 winter driving tips to help you stay safe. Keep a \u2018survival\u2019 pack in your car. This should consist of things like food, water, a blanket, a torch, a map, some warm clothing and a shovel in case you get stuck.<\/p>\n

  1. Make sure you have a mobile phone on you in case of emergencies, and that it is fully charged.<\/li>\n
  2. Check that you have adequate tyre tread. The legal limit is 1.6mm or above, but for the winter it is recommended to have at least 3mm tread.<\/li>\n
  3. Check that you\u2019re anti freeze and windscreen wash is topped up.<\/li>\n
  4. Adjust your driving style to suit the weather conditions and leave enough time to make your journey safely. If the weather is really bad, only drive if necessary.<\/li>\n
  5. Check that all the lights are working on your car.<\/li>\n
  6. Make sure your fuel is topped up to a good level in case you get stuck in traffic, which is much more likely in bad weather conditions.<\/li>\n
  7. Service your car for winter to ensure everything is working as it should be and that it is safe.<\/li>\n
  8. Check your wiper blades for wear and tear and replace them if necessary.<\/li>\n
