Lockers<\/a> are products that can show up in a wide variety of different places, from schools and gyms to changing rooms and workshops; yet most storage lockers<\/a> share a similar design quirk of having small holes for ventilation in them. Do these small holes actually serve a purpose in the design of the locker?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ventilation and Hygiene<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The simple answer to this question, is that lockers have these holes built into them for hygienic purposes. Whether it\u2019s in the changing room of a gym, or the corridors of a school, lockers are often used for the storage of things food and clothing, both of which will quickly start to stink the place out if not for proper ventilation. By allowing clean air to circulate into the locker, these vents allow things like sweaty clothes to dry out and prevent unpleasant odours from building up.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Put simply, if these lockers did not have these vents, a significant amount of water would be retained in the environment of the interior, which means that these odours and smells, and even mould and mildew, could quickly build up and pose a hygiene risk.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
